Escape22 is the High School ministry of Cornerstone Church of Ames. Our desire is for students to know God in a real, personal way. 2 Timothy 2:22 says "Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart." We recognize that these are formative years where a student's lifestyle today is charting their course for tomorrow. As a group we want to set a course in pursuit of God and encourage lives lived for His Glory.

We desire to be real with our identity, problems, and victories. You can be who you really are when you come to E22 and when you leave – live one life!
     We want our whole lives to be centered on God. Our desire is to see students let God take the lead and not try and lead Him. We need to be asking the question, “Is this a good thing or a God thing?” 

Relevant

  

Influential
It's ok to be "in the world" but not "of it." Sports teams, skate parks, bands, and on are all things that God has given us to enjoy. We want to come along side our friends meeting them where they are and pointing them to our greatest joy - Christ!    Our world needs change and we desire to be a transformed people set out to influence families, schools, and the world.  If we believe all the right things, say all the right words, and do not influence others, we have missed the point. Jesus says we are the salt and light of the world!

Joel Vint

Youth Pastor

This is Joel's sixth year of leading youth ministry at Cornerstone and he loves what God is doing among the church; lives are being changed and He is getting fame.  Joel is married to an amazing woman named Sarah who also serves at Cornerstone as the Salt Company Coordinator. He and his wife love ministering to teens and their families. 

Joel became a Christian through the Salt Company ministry in 2003 and has enjoyed knowing God more and more since then. He graduated from Iowa State in Horticulture and loves landscaping and golfing.  He also been known to choreograph a car dance or two.  His passion is to be maximized for God's kingdom until He returns or calls me home.

Wendy Pierce

Women's Intern

Wendy, and her husband Travis, have been doing high-school life on life ministry for 6 years now. Wendy's love for students is made most evident through her ability to speak truth in such an encouraging way. Wendy, Travis, and 2yr old Savannha do a lot of ministry from their home in downtown Ames.

   Lauren Chorpening

Coordinating Intern

Lauren is a recent graduate of Iowa State University. She has a heart for young women and aims to help them establish or deepen their relationships with God. She is the go-to person for staff, parents and students as the new coordinating intern for Escape 22 and 180 ministries.

Jenn Boccella

CST Intern

A recent graduate from ISU and alumn of The Salt Company, Jenn is jumping right back into studies as a student of the Cornerstone School of Theology (CST).  She will be working towards a Master of Theological Studies degree while also having the opportunity to intern with E22.  Jenn looks forward to doing ministry by investing in and establishing relationships with high school students.
